Subject: Public Safety Citizen Communication Program
 
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation to streamline communications between police departments and the public.
 
My legislation would establish a Public Safety Citizen Communication Program. Police departments would be able to utilize this program to communicate with victims of crime, reporting parties and members of the community.
 
The program would be tailored to inform a crime victim of their rights, provide updates on a case, and collect feedback from crime victims. Similar technology has been deployed in departments across the country with positive feedback from police officers and crime victims.
 
This legislation will modernize how police departments engage with victims of crime and assist police departments with the staffing shortages they are currently encountering.
