Subject: | Rural Co-Working and Innovation Centers (RCIC) |
In the near future, I will reintroduce Senate Bill 962 that will establish Co-Working and Innovation Centers across rural Pennsylvania. The pandemic fundamentally changed the way individuals work, with many working remotely and even continuing on a permanent basis. As the way we work evolves, we must ensure that rural Pennsylvania is not left behind. As such, RCICs will serve as working hubs for individuals, entrepreneurs or anyone needing an office space. Access to high-speed broadband, infrastructure and equipment is critical to today’s economy, and by enabling our rural communities access, we will help spur economic development. The state of Utah has enacted a similar program which has already evidenced significant success. Previous co-sponsors to this legislation were: Stefano, Argall, Schwank, and Costa. Senate Bill 962 unanimously passed the Senate on April 12, 2022. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. |
Introduced as SB377
