Subject: | Recruitment and Retention of Law Enforcement Officers, Prosecutors, and Corrections Officers |
In the near future, I plan to re-introduce Senate Resolution 345 to create a special bipartisan, bicameral legislative commission to provide recommendations for the recruitment and retention of law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and corrections officers in the Commonwealth. In 2017, the General Assembly passed Senate Resolution 6 to undertake a comprehensive study into the challenges the Fire and EMS communities were facing. SR 6 produced numerous recommendations, many of which have been acted on. A Senate Majority Policy Committee hearing in Ebensburg highlighted the challenges the law enforcement community is facing with the recruitment and retention of dedicated officers. The legislative commission will make its recommendations by January 1, 2024. Previous co-sponsors of this resolution were: Pittman, Martin, Baker, Argall, Aument, Costa, Robinson, Mastriano, Stefano, and Collett. Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution. |
