Session of 2023 - 2024 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: April 26, 2024 12:13 PM
From: Representative Kathleen C. Tomlinson and Rep. Joe Hogan, Rep. Kristin Marcell, Rep. Shelby Labs, Rep. Craig T. Staats
To: All House members
Subject: Designating May 12-18, 2024 as "National Police Week" and May 15, 2024, as "Peace Officers Memorial Day" in Pennsylvania

In the near future, we plan to introduce a resolution designating May 12 through 18, 2024 as “National Police Week” and May 15, 2024, as “Peace Officers Memorial Day” in Pennsylvania.

President John F. Kennedy's historic proclamation established May 15th as “Peace Officers Memorial Day,” with the entire week surrounding it recognized as “Police Week.” This commemoration serves as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by our law enforcement officers, who tirelessly work to safeguard our cities and communities.

During this dedicated week, we honor those officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. It is also an opportunity for us to express our heartfelt gratitude and unwavering solidarity with the men and women who serve our Commonwealth with honor and dedication.

We  kindly request your co-sponsorship for this resolution. Together, we can ensure that the sacrifices of our police officers are never forgotten.

Thank you for your consideration.
