Subject: Designating July 2024 as “Muslim American Heritage Month”

William Penn founded Pennsylvania as a place that accepted and embraced the diversity of faith and cultural traditions. Our Commonwealth thrives because of the rich tapestry of our communities, including Muslim Pennsylvanians. There are hundreds of thousands of Muslim Americans in Pennsylvania, and our commonwealth represents one of the largest Muslim-American populations of any state in the United States. This resolution will designate the month of July 2024 as “Muslim American Heritage Month” in Pennsylvania.

This designation would allow the commonwealth and its residents to respectfully recognize and celebrate the many contributions and achievements of the commonwealth’s Muslim community. This designation recognizes the prejudices that Muslim American Pennsylvanians encounter and highlights the importance of acknowledging and promoting understanding, awareness, appreciation, and acceptance of Muslim Americans in our commonwealth.

Muslim Americans have helped to shape our commonwealth and country. Please join us in honoring their contributions by signing on to this resolution.
