MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 1, 2024 10:31 AM
From: Representative Doyle Heffley
To: All House members
Subject: Authorizing Hayrides to Cross Roads

In my district, there is a local farmer whose farm is split by a road. The farmer has been providing hayrides which necessitates the need for the farmer to make crossings along the road.  Recently, the farmer was told that he is not allowed to do this. Currently in the Vehicle Code farm vehicles or implements of husbandry are required to only be used near their farms for specific agricultural purposes.

In the near future, I will be introducing legislation to authorize hayrides to cross a highway if certain conditions are met. The legislation would also allow PennDOT or a municipality to designate hayride crossing signs near farms that are split by a road.

Please join me in sponsoring this important legislation to allow for hayrides to cross a road.

Introduced as HB2121
