Subject: Ensuring LLC Landlord Transparency
 
Too often the owner of a blighted property is discovered to be a limited liability corporation (LLC). Municipal officials may try to contact the LLC to correct building code and other violations but often struggle to obtain contact information to speak with a member of the LLC responsible for the property. Renters and property owners of Pennsylvania suffer when an LLC property owner is negligent and absent, leaving the property to fall to ruin.
 
Municipalities are currently allowed to require reporting of the beneficial owners of a property owned by an LLC. My legislation would codify this ability into law, making it abundantly clear that municipalities have this option.
