House of Representatives
Session of 2023 - 2024 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: September 5, 2023 12:29 PM
From: Representative Emily Kinkead and Rep. Marla Brown
To: All House members
Subject: Public Fireworks Displays

In the near future, Representative Marla Brown and I plan to introduce legislation that would clarify in our Fireworks Law that any individual, not just business entities, who performs, provides or supervises any type of fireworks displays or exhibitions for profit shall register annually with the Attorney General, and require anyone so registered to provide a certificate of registration upon request by law enforcement. The current law requires registration for business entities, and does not specify the type of fireworks used in a for-profit fireworks display. Our legislation will clarify that using consumer fireworks for profit will require registration. It will also require anyone using consumer fireworks for profit to meet the same municipal permitting, handling, siting and insurance requirements that are required to use display fireworks.
