Subject: Requiring the PUC to keep a central database of rate increases
 
It was recently brought to my attention that the PA Public Utility Commission does not have a centralized, searchable database with information regarding rate increases.
 
I will soon be introducing legislation to require that the PUC create this database so consumers can easily access the information via a publicly accessible website.  This legislation is to create transparency, accountability and protect consumers.
 
This is a common-sense piece of legislation to establish a database that essentially should already be available.  PUC has the information, but has to be looked up by a case-by-case basis.  A centralized, searchable database only makes sense.
