A RESOLUTION
Designating Wednesday, October 14, 2015, as "Pennsylvania Job
Corps Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The United States Department of Labor established
Job Corps in 1964 to achieve the goal of providing hands-on
training to low-income students in America's fastest growing
careers; and
WHEREAS, Job Corps is the nation's largest technical training
and education program for low-income students between 16 and 24
years of age; and
WHEREAS, An estimated 60,000 students per year benefit from
the Job Corps program; and
WHEREAS, There are more than 100 industries and career paths
that students may pursue, including: automotive and machine
repair, construction, finance and business services, health
care, hospitality, information technology, manufacturing and

renewable resources; and
WHEREAS, Job Corps offers students the opportunity to earn a
high school diploma or a GED for those youth who have neither;
and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania has four Job Corps Centers at the
following locations:
(1) Keystone, 235 West Foothills Drive, Drums, PA 18222.
(2) Philadelphia, 2810 South 20th Street, Building 12,
Philadelphia, PA 19145.
(3) Pittsburgh, 7175 Highland Drive, Pittsburgh, PA
15206.
(4) Red Rock, P.O. Box 218, Route 487 North, Lopez, PA
18628;
therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate
Wednesday, October 14, 2015, as "Pennsylvania Job Corps Day" in
Pennsylvania in order to honor the important work and resources
that Pennsylvania's four Job Corps Centers provide for low-
income youth in this Commonwealth.
